What another fantastic U9 Spirit of Rugby Festival at Clonmel RFC today, even the man above played his part by flicking the fine weather switch on this morning
50 teams stretching to the four corners of Ireland came from far and wide to participate. Some clubs participating were Cork Constitution, Blackrock College, Barnhall, Garryowen, Bruff, and Clonakilty just to name a few, they all came with around 600 plus players who took to the pitches. There was a magnificent atmosphere buzzing across our Ard Gaoithe club grounds and the feedback from the visiting clubs was positive and very complimentary.
The generosity, spirit and enthusiasm from all who volunteered on the day was absolutely incredible who put their hands up to help run this massive operation and make it look seamlessly easy. 90 plus volunteers ranging from the main general committee to rugby teams coaches to club members to parents etc who all rowed in together from Friday night to opening for business this morning including lining the pitches, refereeing, pitch coordinators, event controllers, the traffic management and car parking team, the Tacklers Coffee Wagon team, the Lunch Prep & Serving Team, the Photographers, the Gate Access team, the Post Event Clean Team and the hot food vendor barbecuing the fresh Burgers and Sausages.
An event of this size always needs another type of help from sponsors and without them nothing moves in the first place, our appreciation and gratitude for the kindness and generosity from Clonmel Credit Union, ABP, Fire and Feast, O’Donnells Crisps, Tom Skinnys and Fenton Precision Engineering, thank you very much.
Special thanks also to U9 Coaching Team; Morgan Lyons (Head Coach), Greg Carroll, Ronan Crosse, Dylan Guidera, Michael Kennedy and Tom Meehan who have worked tirelessly planning, coordinating, sourcing etc etc for months to make this day a reality and be thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
